Cobalt (II), Nickel (II) and Copper (II) complexes of the schiff bases derived from 5-bromoslicylaldehyde with p-phenylenediamine and benzidine were synthesized and characterised on the basis of analytical, magnetic, thermogravimetric and spectral data. The complexes were formulated as [M L (H2O)2]n, where M=Co(Il), Ni(II) or Cu(II), L=di-5-bromosalicyldene p-phenylenediamine (PPBrS) or di-5-bromosalieylidenebenzidine (BNBrS) and n=degree of polymeriaation. The schiff bases behave as dibasic tetradentate ONNO - donor ligands.
