Complexes of 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4 (arylhydrazo)-5-pyrazolone dyes with the rare earth ion Sm (III) are studied by different physicochemical methods. The present work is devoted to study the pKH of the hydroxy derivatives of these dyes by spectrophotometric and potentometric methods. The stability constants of complexes of Sm+++ ion with these dyes in solutions were calculated and found to be in order. 2-OH-5-CI- <2-OH- <2-OH-5 -CH3. The polarographic behaviour of their complexes with this ion was studied and an electroanalytical method for determination of metal ion as well as the dye itself was obtained.
