ABSTRACT:

The u. v. absorption specrta of nicotine, nicotinamide, pyridine and aniline show that the positigns of maximum absorption are affected only slightly by the change of alcohol and pH of the medium except for aniline at very low pH. The molar extinction coefficients show considerable effect of pH. The spectra of aniline are very sensisive to pH of the medium. Aniline shows an invariant point in its spectra in aqueous methanolic media. This can be successfully utilised for the estimation of aniline from aqueous methanolic media. All the four compounds obey the Beer-.Lambert's law facilitating their estimation in the media taken.
