3-Nitro-6-Methylbenzene Sulphamido Chalcones and Related Compounds

3-Nitro-6-methylbenzenesulphamido chalcones (II a, b) were prepared. Interation of sulpha-mido chalcones (II) with hydrazine, phenylhydrazine, urea and thiourea gave the corresponding pyrazole (III) and pyrimidine derivatives (IV). Sulphamido epoxides (VI) reacted readily with hydrazine hydrate, acetic acid or with piperidine and morpholine to give the corresponding hydrosy pyrazole (VII), ∝-hydroxy-β-acetoxy (VIII), oc -hydroxy-β-piperidyl and ∝ -hydroxy-β-morphoyl (IX) respectively.
