The bromination of 5-substituted-2-hydroxy acetophenones by using phenyl trimethylammoniumtribromide (PTT) in presence H2SO4 catalyst at different temperature have been carried out. In the present study, it is observed that first order kinetics due to ketones, inverse first order kinetics due to PTT and first order kinetics due to sulphuric acid. The effect of temperature have been discussed.
