Chalcones (E1-E5) have been prepared by the reaction between ketone (D) and different substituted aromatic aldehydes. These chalcones (E1-E5) were cyclized with guanidine nitrate and hydrazine hydrate to give aminopyrimidine (F1-F5) and pyrazoline (G1-G5) derivatives corresponding chalcones (E1-E5). The synthesized compounds were characterized by the spectral data and elemental analysis. These compounds were screened for their antibacterial activity by using ciprofloxacin as standard drug.
