ABSTRACT:

4-diazo-5-mercapto-3- methyl/ethyl-s-triazoles ( 1 and 2 ) were coupled with active methylene groups viz: acetyl acetone, ethylcyanoacetate and malanodinitrile to get dinucleating ligands (L1-L6). These ligands were reacted with Ni(II) and Cu(II) chlorides. Dinucleating ligands and metal complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, IR,NMR,ESR and magnetic movement studies. On the basis of physico- chemical studies Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes have been assigned octahedral structure. The synthesized compounds have been screened for their antimicrobial activity.
