The kinetics of oxidation of oxyhemoglobin by potassium chlorate has been investigated spectrophotometrically. The reaction has been shown to be second order with specific reaction rate of 1.82 x 102 M-1s-1 at pH 3.75 and temperature 25.00 C the energy of activation, frequency factor and entropy of activation are found to be 51.84 kJmol-1, 2.22 x 1011 and -36.0 JK-1mol-1 respectively. The specific reaction rate is affected by pH and saline concentration. The most likely mechanism has been proposed
