Schiff bases synthesised by the reaction of salicylaldehyde, 5-chloro salicylaldehyde and L-histidine, L-tryptophan, L-valine, L-methionine and L-glycine were characterised by melting points, elemental analyses and I.R. spectra. The complexes of these Schiff bases have been synthesised with Titanium (III) and oxovanadium (IV) and characterised by melting points, molar conductance, electronic and I.R. spectra and TGA. On the basis of these studies octahedral geometry have been proposed for these complexes.
