The polynuclear matal complexes have been prepared in aqueous medium by the reaction of tri, tetra penta valent metal ions with orthophenylenediamine-N, N, N’,N’- tetrakis- (methylene phosphonic acid) (PDTMP). The resulting complexes were characterized on the basis of their elemental analysis, thermal analysis, magnetic measurements, I.R. and electronic spectral data. Analytical data indicated the compositions of these complexes as follows: M3XL. xH2O (M=La+3 and Sm+3). M2L H2O (M=Ce+4, Th+4, Zr+4) and M2X2L x H2O (M=Nb+5), X=NO3-, Cl-; L = ligand.
