Complexes of Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) with the ligands HL1 and HL2 of the type, ML21-2 where HL1=2 –propionylfuran benzoylhdrazone; HL2 = 2-propionyl-thiophenebenzoylhdrazone have been synthesized on the basis of elemental analysis, IR, electronic and ESR spectral studies. All the complexes found to have octahedral geometry on the basis of magnetic and electronic spectral data, where ligands in a tridentate manner using azomethine nitrogen carbonyl oxygen and furyl oxygen/sulfur for coordination. EPR study on Cu(II) complexes indicate appreciable covalent character in metal-oxygen band.
KEYWORDS:Co(II); Ni(II); Cu(II) complexes; hetrocyclic benzoyl hydrazone ligands; spectral study
