Two simple, sensitive, rapid and accurate spectrophotometric methods have been developed for the estimation of chlorpromazine hydrochloride in tablet forms. Both the methods are extractive spectrophotometric. In first method absorbance of chlorpromazine hydrochloride-Eriochrome Black-T complex was measured at 516 (l max.). Second method is based on the formation of chlorpromazine hydrochloride-calcon complex having maximum absorbance at 537nm. The proposed methods were validated statistically and by recovery studies. The linearity was found to 2.4-20.5 μg/ml and 1.25-12.0 μg/ml for first and second respectively.
