Series of 1-formamidino-3-thioamido-N-substitutedformamidinothiocarbamides (2a to 2f) have been synthesized by the interaction 1,3-diformamidinothiocarbamide (1) with various isothiocyanates in 1:1 molar ratio in carbontetrachloride medium. The latter have been synthesized by the interaction of dicyanamide, thiourea, and conc. hydrochloric acid in presence of acetone medium. The structure of all these compounds were established on the basis of elemental analysis, IR and PMR spectral data. All the synthesized compounds have been assayed for their antimicrobial activity against both gram-positive and gram-negative human pathogens.
