Various benzothiazole and benzimidazole selenolato metallic complexes, M [Se (BTZ)] 2 and M [Se (BMZ)] 2, were synthesized by the reaction of MCl2 (where M = Zn (II), Hg (II), Cd (II), Cu (II), Ni (II) on selenolato ligands, BTZ Se+Li- and BMZ Se+Li- respectively (where BTZ = benzothiazole, BMZ = benzimidazole). The compounds synthesized were characterized by various spectral analysis and screened for anti-tumour activity using Erhlich Ascites Carcinoma (EAC) Cell induced albino mice. Various parameters were noted to confirm the efficiency of the derivatives as anti-tumor agent. The compounds, Ia and IIa were found to be significantly potent while Ib, Ic, IIb, IIc and IIe were moderate anti-tumour.
