Some crossed aldol and oxime products were synthesized and the yield have been used as a measure for the chemical reactivity of the 2-formyl pyridine, 2-formyl furan, 2-formyl thiophene and 2-formylpyrrole, which compared with the antibacterial activity to the mentioned 2-formyl compounds to indicate that there is a relation between the antibacterial activity towards E. coli bacteria and electrophilicity of the carbonyl compounds toward nucleophiles.
