Mixed ligand complexes of cis-dichloroS-methyl-L-cysteinatoplatinum(II) with pyrimidine bases, their nucleosides and nucleotides viz., cytosine, cytidine, 5'-CMP, thyamine, thymidine, 5'-TMP, uracil and uridine were synthesised and characterised by elemental analysis, conductivity data, IR, UV, 1HNMR and 13CNMR spectral studies. In these complexes S-methyl-L-cysteine molecule coordinates through amino nitrogen and thioether sulphur groups to the platinum center in a cis- geometry mode leaving undissociated carboxylic acid. In the ternary complexes of pyrimidine bases and their corresponding nucleosides, nucleotides N(3) is the observed binding site.
