5,7–Dimethoxyflavone (9) and 5,7,3',4' - tetramethoxyflavone1 (10) were isolated from the rhizomes of Blesenbergia pandurata (Roxb.) Schltr (black rhizomes) (local name: Krachi-dum); along with another seven flavone and two flavanones, have been synthesized by two different routes both of them are starting from phloroacetophenone (1). The products have been characterized on the basis of spectral analysis.
KEYWORDS:5,7-DImethoxylfavone; 5,7,3',4'-tetramethoxyflavone
