Several 2-amino biphenyl derived amides have been prepared by the condensation of 2-amino biphenyl and different acid chlorides. The acid chlorides were obtained from respective acids by the action of thionyl chloride/phosphorus penta chloride. The structures of newly synthesized compounds were elucidated on the basis of their IR, NMR and Mass spectral data.
