Some physico-chemical parameters of underground water collected from 5 wells at a distance of 5 kms along north side of right canal from different locations of five villages of Yawal and Raver Block of Jalgaon District of Maharashtra state irrigated by Hatnur canal (right) were studied in August 2000 to April 2002. In case of underground water, it was found that conductivity, alkalinity and hardness were high and much above the permissible limits. The effect of long term continuous extensive irrigation by underground water and application of increasing amount of chemical fertilizers and insectiside over years on water and soil quality on this area have been discussed.
