A series of aryl ureas and thioureas have been prepared and their anticonvulsant activity evaluated. Phenyl, p-tolyl and p-bromophenyl ureas were found to be most active compounds in the maximal electroshock (MES) test. The thioureas were inactive in the same test. The structures of the synthesized compounds have been confirmed on the basis of their elernental analysis and spectral data.
KEYWORDS:Ureas; thioureas; Anticonvulsant activity
