New palladium(II) complexes (4 and 5) and zirconium(IV) complexes (6 and 7) bearing the binucleating indenyl-phosphine ligands; 1-h5-indenyl-2-diphenyl phosphinoethane (IND-PPh2, 2) and 1,2-bis(h5-(3-diphenyl-phosphinoethyl)indenyl)ethane (BINDE-PPh2, 3) were prepared and characterized. Reaction of [Zr(IND-PPh2)Cl2] (6), which contains the unbridged, binucleating ligand 2, with [Pd(NCPh)2Cl2] afforded the heterobimetallic Zr(IV)-Pd(II) complex 8.
