Volatile Components of Methanol Extract From the Flower of Malaysian Musea Ferrea Linn

Fourteen major volatile components of the methanol extract from the flower of Mesua Ferrea linn were analyzed using gas chromatograph couple with mass spectrometry. Interestingly, the crude extract shown a strong cytotoxic activity (i.e. IC50 of 12.5 μg/ml) toward T-lymphosit leukemia cell and weak antimicrob activities against bacteria, namely Staphylococcus aureus, Bacilus subtilis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
