2-arylamino-5-mercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazoles have been condensed with 2-amino pyridine and 3'-hydroxy-4-amino-naphthalene sulfonic acid to give the title compounds [5-(2-arylamino-1,3,4-thiadiazolo)-thioazo]-2'-pyridyl/3'-hydroxy naphthalene sulfonic acid (IIa-f). In another sequence of reactions, the thiadiazole nuclei was reacted with sulphur drugs namely, sulfadiazine, sulfadimidine and sulfaguanidine to give the azo dyes (IIg-o). The synthesized compounds were screened for antibacterial against S. aureus, E. coli, Klebsiella species and P. aeruginosa, while antileishmanial activity was done against L. donovani. Some derivatives have shown to be active against the bacteria and the parasite.
