Cathodic depositions of lanthanum were carried out at controlled pH from a number of solutions containing the metal salt, and a complexing agent. The current density ranged from 6.8 x 10-5- 27.4 x 10-3 mA cm-2. The purity of the deposited lanthanum was better than 99.8%. The cathodic current efficiency was determined and the mechanism of formation of lanthanum is proposed and discussed.
