New chromium(III) complexes of the general formula CrL2X3 (where L = 2-methyl cyclohexanone) thiosemicarbazone (mchtsc) and 4N-methyl-3-thiosemicarbazone (mchmtsc) and X = Cl-, Br-, SCN- have been synthesized and characterized by various physico-chemical techniques. All the complexes are monomeric in nature. IR data suggest that ligands coordinate to metal ion via the azomethine nitrogen and sulphur atom of C=S group. Magnetic moment and spectral studies suggest an octahedral geometry for the complexes.
