Heterocyclyl substituted acids (3a-h) have been synthesized by the condensation of four different heterocyclic compounds (1a-d) with a-chloroalkanoic acid (2a-b). These (3a-h) were converted to corresponding alkanoyl chloride (4a-h) using thionyl chloride. Subsequent treatment with N-hydroxyphthalimide, N-hydroxysuccinimide, benzohydroxamic acid, benzophenone oxime and a-benzoin oxime furnished corresponding 2-(w-heterocyclyl alkanoates) (5a-n').
