Various pyrano[2,3-C] pyrazole derivatives [I(a-k)] were prepared from 1-(3'-chloro phenyl)-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone. Reaction between 1-(3'-chloro phenyl)-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, malanonitrile and various aldehydes in presence of piperidine in ethanol gave pyrano [2,3-C] pyrazole derivatives [I(a-k)]. These compounds were characterized on the basis of elemental and spectral analysis. All the newly synthesized compounds were tested for their antimicrobial activity.
