Geochemical Study of Nitrate in Ground Water of Behror Tehsil of Alwar District (Rajasthan)

A study was undertaken for the determination of nitrate concentration in water taken from various villages of Behror Tehsil of Alwar District and its suburbs with the help of nitrate ion meter method. Nitrate concentrations was studied in drinking and irrigation water drawn from open wells, bore wells and hand pumps and result has been presented. 40 sites were selected for sampling periphery of 40 kms on Behror-Rewari highway. All the water bodies were found to contain high levels of nitrate, which is harmful for the health of the consumer.
