Various bi-functional reactive dyes have been synthesized by diazotised acid components such as K-acid, T-acid, J-acid, Tobias acid, Sulpho-tobias acid, Peri acid, Gamma acid, Chicago acid, Amido-G-acid and Metanilic acid and coupling with 4,4'-methylene bis-o-chloroaniline cyanurated H-acid and their dyeing performance on silk, wool and cotton fibres has been assessed. The purity of all the dyes has been checked by thin-layer chromatography. The value of percentage of N found in all these dyes is found to be in good agreement with the calculated values. The IR spectra of all these dyes were recorded on Perkin-Elmer Spectrophotometer (Model-377) showed all characteristics bands present in the dye molecules and a representative dye PMR spectra showed all the signals. The percentage dye-bath exhaustion and fixation on different fibres was found to be good to excellent. The dyeing performance of all these dyes on silk, wool and cotton gave fair to very good light fastness, good to excellent fastness to washing and rubbing.
