Physico-chemical studies regarding the water quality assessment of Halali Reservoir water was conducted during the month of November 2000. Water samples were collected from four sampling stations and the parameters like temperature, pH, turbidity, specific conductivity, chloride and sulphate ion concentration, phosphate and fluoride ion concentration, total alkalinity, hardness, dissolved oxygen, B.O.D. and C.O.D. were measured. The values of these parameters are indicated in Table 3 which shows that water quality is totally unfit for drinking purpose but is more suitable for fish culture because Halali reservoir receives a lot of domestic sewage, industrial effluents and effluents from the slaughter house and Bhopal Glue Factory etc. through the Patra Nullah, due to which water quality is full of proteins and phosphates etc. which is suitable for fish culture.
