Essential oils are well known as flavouring agents. They are also widely studied in connection with their germicidal property against bacterial and fungal diseases. Essential ois also exhibit Anthelmintic activity. Here Anthelmintic activity of essential oils of Bothriocloa pertusa, Abutilon indicum, Xanthium stramarium, Mentha spicata, Cinnamomum zeylanicum, Santalum album, Parthenium hysterophonus were studied on earth worm, tape worm, hook worm and nodular worm and it was observed that essential oils from Xanthium strumarium possess superior anthelmintic activity against earth worm, tape worm, hook worm and nodular worm, as compared to standard substance. The essential oil from Abutilon indicum possess considerable anthelmintic activity against all four worms as compared to standard substance, so fas as the possible utility as an anthelmintic agent is concerned.
