Antibacterial Study of 2-(P-Tolyl Sulfonamido)-3-(N-Arylthioureido Carbonyl) Pyridine Derivatives

2-(p-Tolyl sulfonamido)-3-(N-aryl thioureido carbonyl) pyridine derivatives (IV a-j) prepared by three steps. The preparation of 2-chloro-3-pyridine carbonyl chloride (II) from 2-chloro-3-pyridine carboxylic acid (I) in the first step, the second step was the preparation of amide (III a-j)j from (II) using aryl thiourea and the formation of third step (IV a-j) from (III a-j) by using p-Tolyl sulfonamide. The structures of new compounds have been established on the basis of elemental analysis, IR and 1H NMR spectral data. The antibacterial activity was screened for all the synthesized compounds.
