Mixed ligand complexes having the general formula ML2L' where, M=Rb or Cs; L=deprotonated picolinic acid, quinaldinic acid, picolinic acid N-oxide or quinaldinic acid N-oxide and L'=1, 10 phenanthroline have been synthesized and characterized on the basis of conductivity measurement, elemental analysis and infrared spectral studies. IR spectra suggested that hydrogen bonding is not necessary for formation of adducts between a chelating ligand and alkali metal salt of a chelated anion.
