A few novel ligand possessing heterocyclic >C=N, -COOH, >N groups and their bivalent metal-chelates were screened against antibacterial (aerobic and anaerobic) activity, antifungal activity (against A. niger and D. australiensis). The metal-chelates were analysed spectro-photometrically to assign the geometry and the points of coordination. Various spectral parameters for the chelates were also calculated and are reported in the present communication.
