Coordination Polymers Based on Bis-Ligand : 1,7-Di(8-Hydroxy -5-Quinolinyl)Aza-1,3,5-Heptatriene-3-Ol (Dhqaht)

Coordination polymers of a novel bis(bidentate) ligand namely 1,7-di(8-hydroxy-5-quinolinyl)aza-1,3,5-heptatriene-3-ol (DHQAHT) have been prepared with the metal ions like Zn+2, Cu+2, Ni+2, Co+2 and Mn+2. The novel mixed bis (bidentate) ligand (DHQAHT) was synthesized by acid catalysed reaction of 5-amino-8-quinolinol with 2-furancarboxaldehyde. All the coordination polymers and the parent ligand (DHQAHT) were characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectral and diffuse reflectance spectral studies. The thermal stability and average molecular weights (Mn) of all the co-ordination polymers were determined by thermogravimetric analysis and non-aqueous conductometric titration. Besides this all the co-ordination polymers were also characterized by their magnetic susceptibilities and monitored for microbial study against various plant pathogens.
