The electronic spectral studies include the influence exerted by different micellar media involving some nonionic, cationic and anionic surfactants on flourescence spectral behaviour of Fuchsin acid. It is a red flourescent dye of triphenylmethane group consisting of sodium salt of sulphonic acid of basic Fuchsin. The results stress upon both, cationic and anionic character of the dye. However, the anionic nature predominates. The enhancement of the flourescence intensities at lmax appears to be due to the disagreation of the dimeric and multimeric forms of the dye molecule into its monomeric form.
