Physico-chemical parameters of ground water from six (three open wells and three tube wells) sampling points and one municipal tap water of Ganesh Colony, a municipal area of Jalgaon city were monitored from September to December 2000. The values obtained were compared with standards prescribed by ISI and WHO. Then corresponding Water Quality Index (WQI) was worked out for the observed water quality parameters. In this study, water from the underground sources were found to be very poor except one sample in each case on the basis of alkalinity, total hardness and total solids in comparison with municipal tap water.
