Substituted 1-Benzothiazolyl-4-aryl-azetidinones (III) have been prepared by the condensation of substituted 2-aminobenzothiazoles(I) with salicylaldehyde followed by reaction with acetyl chloride in presence of triethylamine in dioxane. The synthesized compounds were screened for the antibacterial activities against E.coli, S. aureus, P. mirabilis, Pseudomonas and Klebsiella spp.
