Oxidation of Substituted Chalcones With Potassium Peroxydisulphate-Copper (II)

Oxidation of substituted chalcones with peroxysulphate in the presence of copper (II) gave substituted benzoic acids and substituted benzaldehydes. A possible mechnaism for the cleavage of chalcone to products is proposed.
