The brominatlon of different ketones in glacial acetic acid using sulphuric acid catalysis at different temperature by PTT have been carried out. The kinetic study of brominatlon is done. The reaction showed the first order kinetic due to ketones and Inverse first order kinetic due to PTT. The thermodynamic parameters were evaluated and discussed. Linear plot is obtained from Hammet plot versus substituents In acetophenones moiety. This relationship has been analysed quantitative In terms of interactive free energy relationships for substituents effects. The product of brominatlon of different acetophenones were found to be monobromo acetophenones.
KEYWORDS:brominatlon; temperature; acetophenones monobromo
