A Convenient Synthesis and Reactions of Thiazolopyrimidines and Their Antibacterial Activity

In searching for compounds for biological studies it was considered worthwhile to start with 4-aryl substituted -6- methyl-2-thioxo pyrimidines 1 and 12 as new products for this synthesis. Both compounds 1 and 12 underwent cycloalkylation on heating at 80°C with acetyl chloride to afford products 8 and 15 respectively.
