Tenth mixed bifunctional reactive dyes viz. 1-naphthol-2-azo (2-methoxy 4'(β-sulphato ethyl sulphonyl) Phenyl 6-N-methyl (2'chloro 4, amino benzothiozoyl-6' yl-s-triazine) 3-sulphonic acid were prepared by condensing 1-naphthol 6-N-methyl-3-sulphonic acid (I) with cyanuric chloride(ll) and coupling with diazottsed 2-methoxy 4-(β-sufphato ethyl sulphonyl) aniline (IV) and finally condensing with various benzothiazole (Vla-j. These dyes when applied to cotton fabric gave pink and red shade with moderate to good light fastness, good to excellent wash fastness and very good to excellent exhaustion.
KEYWORDS:bifunctional; sulphonyl; benzothiozoyl methyl
