Use of 1,2-Dipiperdinopropane (DPP) as a gravimetric reagent with Bi(llI), Hg(ll) and Si(IV) in concentration of 5-200 mg at pH 0.5 has been worked out. The products are weighed as (Bi(C13H26N2)l3)2HI, (Hg(C13H26N2)2HI) and (Si(C13H26N2)2(Mo3O10)4) respectively and have the lowest gravimetric factors so far reported for the respective metal ions. In case of Bi(III) quantities less than 50mg, tie precipitate was dissolved in Dimethlsulphoxide (DMSO) and subjected to spectrophotometric measurement at the wavelength of 365nm.
