Analytical potential of some novel eluents absorbing in ultraviolet region derived from pyridylsulfooic acid has been evaluated for ion chromatographic analysis of anionic species. The eluent 2-pyridy/bydroxymethanesulfonate offers best conditions for separation and quantification of mono and divalent analyte ions. The usefulness of the novel eluent has been demonstrated in practical samples analysis and particularly for those of industrial and environmental importance.
