A number of new mixed ligand complexes of platinum (II) and gold (III) with homophthafic acid and nitrogen containing heterocyclic bases have been prepared. The complexes were isolated from the reaction is solid form and characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, conductivity measurements, magnetic measurements, and Infrared and electronic spectroscopic stucies. The complexes have the composition; [M(hp).L2] [M(hp).(oxin)} and [M'(hp)2.L2 [M'(hp)2.(oxin)] where hp = homophthalic acid, M=Pt(ll), M'-Au(lll) and L=monodentate ligands and oxin = deprotonated 8-hydroxyquinoiine. Platinum (II) complexes were found to be square planar whereas gold (III) complexes were octahedral.
