Flavanone hydrazones (I) on treatment with different substituted flavanones (II) in presence of ethanol and acetic acid resulted unsymmetrical flavanone azines (III). Reaction of (I) with phenylisocyanate gave flavanone-4-phenyl-semicarbazones (IV). Whereas flavanone-4-benzoyl-3-thiosemicarbazones (V) have been obtained by the reaction of (I) with benzoyl chloride and ammonium thiocyanate. Treatment of (I) with carbondisulphide and ammonia and subsequently with benzyfchioride furnished benzyl dithio carbamic acid derivatives (VI). Structure of the final compounds have been elucidated and spectral data. Antibacterial activity of some synthesized compounds have also been evaluated and discussed.
KEYWORDS:Flavanone hydrazones; phenylisocyanate; flavanone-4-benzoyl-3-thiosemicarbazones (V)
