The low molecular weight poly ketones were prepared from 1,4-dimethoxy benzene, chloroacetyl chloride (CAC), a,β-dichloro alkane i.e. dichloro methane (DCM) and 1,2-dichloro ethane (DCE) by Friedel-Crafts reaction using anhydrous aluminium chloride as catalyst and nitrobenzene as a solvent The synthesized polyketones were characterized by IR spectroscopy and by %chlorine content. The number average molecular weight of the resins were determined by vapour pressure osmometry (V PO). The thermal characteristic were evaluated by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DCS). AH the resins acts as biological active resins. The activities were checked against different class of microorganisms, like bacteria, fungi and yeast .The results shows that the polyketones inhibits the growth to the considerable extent.
