The antibacterial activity of 23 antibacterial agents against a susceptible and two multidrug resistant strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis were compared in vitro by agar dilution method. The multidrug resistant strain MDR-I was found resistant to isoriiazid, streptomycin and rifampin while MDR-II was resistant to pyrazinamide and thiacetazone. The MICs of chloro derivatives of sufphaphenazol and thiocarbamide were lower than the parent compounds for both resistant strains under study.
