In this work, steric effect of tricyclohexytphosphine (PCy3) on the preparation of (Pt2 Cl2(μ-Cl)2 (PCy3)2], (A) are discussed. Preparation of dinuclear Pt(ll) complex containing PCy3 via common method is not possible, because of steric effect of the ligand. Preparation of this complex with the other method, produces different complexes are intermediates. The amount and type of these complexes, depends upon the concentration and time of reaction. Inspite of cleavage of these sort of dinuciears by CT, this does not occurred in our reaction. FT-IR and FT-NMR studies show that because of steric effect of PCy3 the dimmer (A), will not be formed from the reaction of trans-[PtCI3 (PCy3)2 (B) and PtCI2. The other exemption for PCy3 ligand is that cleavage of the bridge in [Pt2Cl6]2 is not occurred by this ligand but it produces dimmer (A) complex.
