The seeds of fifteen plant species representing ten botanical families viz. Acacia Senegal, Albezzia lebbeck (mimosaceae), Antigonon leptopus (polygonaceae), Cassia auriculata (caesal piniaceae), Celosia argentea (Amaranthaceae), Corochorus tridens (Tiliaceae), Crotalaria medicaginea (Fabaceae), Dactyliandra welwitschii (Cucurbitaceae), Ipomea pestigridis (Convolvulaceae), Leucaena leucocephala (mimosaceae), Merrmia aegyptia (Convolvulaceae), Mukia maderaspatana (Cucurbitaceae), Nyctanthes arbortristffis (Nyctanthaceae), Prosopsis juliflvra (Mimocaceae) and Solanum surattense (Solanaceae), collected from the arid zone of Rajasthan, have been investigated tor their tatty add composition, using Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS) techniques. The structure of the fatty acid components was established by preparing a newer, more attractive fragmentation directing 2-substituted, 4:4-dimethyl oxazoline (DMOX) derivatives.
KEYWORDS:Plants species from Arid zone of Rajasthan; 2-substitute; 4:4-Dimethyl aoxazoline derivatisation before GC/MS
